Dunoon Pottery

Dunoon Pottery began in 1974 in the coastal town of Dunoon, Scotland, founded by Gordon Smith and Paul and Alan Holmes. Their vision was to craft fine stoneware mugs that stood apart for their quality and design. As demand grew, Dunoon transitioned to English bone china, prized for its lightness, strength, and brilliance.

What truly set Dunoon apart was its collaboration with talented artists like Caroline Bessey and Jane Fern, who transformed everyday mugs into miniature works of art. From botanical illustrations to quirky cartoons, each piece told a story.

Despite closing the original Dunoon factory in the 1990s, production continued in Staffordshire—the heart of British ceramics—where traditional methods like slip casting and hand-finishing were preserved.

Today, Dunoon mugs are cherished worldwide, blending art and function with unmistakable British charm. Each mug isn’t just a vessel—it’s a slice of design heritage in your hand.
